Restorative
Restorative™ as Team Captain:
Use your powerful Restorative talent to face challenges and problems that others might be intimidated by. Remember that you're drawn to issues and have a desire to heal and restore, and you'll naturally see solutions where they're needed.
Restorative
- If you have Restorative high, you're drawn to either solving problems or healing people or possibly both.
- Restorative is the strength that wants to breathe new life into and restore old things to what they were before or to what's possible.
- Restorative is drawn to the gap, to what’s broken, and to fixing what's broken.
- Restorative will naturally notice what needs fixing, but it doesn’t mean it can't notice the beauty around. It has this innate need to fix, to heal, to resolve it. It has a desire to bring resolution.
- One of the things that's the most draining to Restorative is when there's something that hasn't been resolved. It needs to restore relationship and people.
- Restorative may go into lines of work where they are involved in healing or helping. Or perhaps they are problem-solvers, fixers, mechanics, or similar things.
- Restorative has an incredible capacity and even a desire for constructive criticism. Restorative continually asks the questions, “How can I improve? How can I do better? How can I step up my game? Tell me what's wrong?” Because there's energy in fixing it.
- Restorative can see where something is and where something could be--the gap. Which may make it harder for Restorative to celebrate how far you've come because it still sees what needs to be done--it still sees the gap.
- Restorative brings a tremendous energy to problem solving, to conflict resolution.
- One of the things to be aware of if you have Restorative high is there's a potential tendency to wait until things become problems. One of the beautiful things for Restorative to learn is how to create or to engage things before they get to problem status. Be aware of that tendency in yourself that not everything needs to become a problem in order to deserve attention.
- Know that when something is a problem, you will be one of the people that has the energy, the capacity, the strength, and the stamina to address it and to engage it.
- Restorative doesn’t shy away from problems or challenges. It is drawn to restore, to revive, to bring new hope.
- Be aware that you're probably drawn to what people did wrong or what they missed or what didn't happen in a relationship or work setting. Make sure you're also encouraging people for what they did do well, for what did happen, for what has been accomplished, rather than only pointing out the gap, how far they still have to go, or what problems still need to be solved.
- Know that problem solving is your strength. You bring powerful energy and focus when it comes to healing, restoration, fixing, and helping. And that's a powerful gift to bring to the world.
Wondering if this Strength is being a Ball-Hog? Here are a few questions to ask:
- Have I been asked to help?
- Is this a tension to manage or a problem to solve?
- Have I considered who might be available to offer expertise on this problem or a potential solution?
- Am I clear when to work hard for a solution and when to move on?
- How can I make sure to balance pointing out deficiencies with affirming the positive/giving specific encouragement?
- Have I been waiting for things to slide into crisis mode so that I can be energized by fixing it? Am I (consciously or unconsciously) creating problems just to have something to solve?
